There is a voice I cannot flee,
It lives within; it shadows me.
Through quiet nights and fractured days,
It weaves its threads in countless ways.
It questions my worth; it weighs my fears,
It echoes my laughter; it drinks my tears.
A mirror held too close to see,
Reflecting truths that shatter me.
“You’re broken,” it whispers; “You’ll never be whole,
Your scars are etched too deep in your soul.”
But when I stumble, it softens its voice,
A hushed whisper: “You’re not alone.”
This pushes me through the lowest hurt,
And then urges me to get up first.
“Your heart is broken, but it will keep on beating,
Strength found in all the ways you have fallen and failed.”
It’s speaking of dreams I had pursued,
Of battles fought on bruised and broken Muse.
It’s a piece of me, yet not all of me,
This crashing tide upon my beach.
I have learned to listen, bend, and stay,
To let it guide me through the gray.
The voice inside, though sharp, though loud,
Is my undoing—and my crown.
