Writing online has become fashionable. Not writing online has become almost shameful.
Everyone wants to do it, especially after seeing yesterday’s bank clerks earning millions today, sitting by the beach with their laptops, stringing sentences together.
The internet, blogs, social platforms, and email newsletter services have introduced the world to many new stars, people we would never have known in the pre-internet era. They unlocked their potential by typing away and sharing their thoughts.
Their success has inspired so many that soon, the number of online writers will surpass the number of online readers.
It’s easier to jump to the moon on a trampoline than to succeed in creating online content today.
Experts suggest finding your unique niche. But believe me, whatever niche you choose, it’s already taken. Even if you write about arthritis in elderly warthogs, I’m sure thousands of articles have already been written on that topic.
But that doesn’t mean all is lost.
Fortunately, there are people like Dr Mehmet Yildiz (Main).
Mehmet has been blogging online for as long as some content creators have been alive. He has accumulated a wealth of experience, which he generously shares on Medium and Substack.
I’ve been reading Mehmet’s posts for a long time, and recently, we started collaborating, which is a great honor for me.
Recently, Mehmet Yildiz wrote a book: Substack Mastery: Insider Secrets from a Content Strategist & Seasoned Author: Learn the Basics, Stay Motivated, Grow Your Paid Subscribers, & Thrive with a Community. It is available in multiple bookstores.
Upon feedback, he also created a condensed version at half price, reducing the 50000-word book to 10000 for busy writers like me. The audio version of Substack Mastery can be also helpful for busy readers.
In it, the author openly, thoroughly, and in great detail explains the strategy for creating and distributing content on the Substack platform based on his decades of writing and leadership expertise.
I’ve been publishing weekly posts on this platform for over two years, yet I read this book cover to cover and found it full of valuable insights. He has an official site to keep his readers up-to-date and provide free content for beta readers.
For beginner authors, this book is not just a must-read but should be revisited often, following the author’s advice closely. It also has advanced topics for seasoned authors starting as freelance writers on Substack.
Good luck with creating and growing your Substack newsletter, and Mehmet’s book will be an excellent support for you! I am glad he also created an audio version which I will link here soon.
